‘Where The Crawdad Sings’ A New York Times best seller in 2019 & 2020 this book has to be top of your list. Following Kya Clark ‘Marsh Girl’ from the age of six through to her death at 64 years old. The story pursues two timelines that slowly intertwine. We watch Kya survive on the Marsh land in North Carolina surrounded by the simple things in life such as nature. The animals are her friends and neighbours. As a teenager she befriends Chase Andrews a boy from the local town who is later found dead. A story of survival, love, simplicity and a murder. The author Delia Owens has depicted this book and story beautifully making it a real page turner. After the year plus we have experienced, been locked in our homes for what seems like a lifetime I think we can all appreciate the simpler things in life. The birds singing in the mornings, the beautiful spring flowers blooming and the brighter evenings. I think this book will strike a chord with us all now more than ever.
