CICERO: The life and times of Rome's greatest politician.

Although I read this book in college, I think this book can be an eye opener for young adult readers, and maybe future leaders! I think a bachillerato student would be fascinated by it in two ways. On one hand, this book takes you into the forum of Ancient Rome, just before Gaius Julius Caesar changed history and becomes dictator. Reading this, you feel like a fly on the wall. On the other hand, there are so many points of this Roman life that will sound familiar today. The conniving and backstabbing ways of self serving politicians, smear campaigns meant to sway on emotions rather than truths, and flowery thespian rhetoric on the senate floor in particular won't sound like anything new. Everitt argues that it was Cicero who was the first master of this game. Anyone interested in politics, a career in public life, or ancient Roman history must crack open this boook and enjoy!

LONG WAY AROUND:

This is an incredible story from the perspective of Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman. You may know Ewan McGregor from hios many acclaimled films as an actor, and Charley Boorman is his buddy/motorcycle guru. They are two friends who decide to take a three month motorcycle trip... from London to New York! How do they do it? Crossing Eurasia, taking a ferry to Asia, and crossing North America. It's a long way around! This is a special story that deals with travel, motorcycles, culture shock, homesickness, survival, expectation vs reality, friendship and the struggle to stay sane on a team, and how to deal with arris if problems in the middle of Mongolia! It's also a documentary as well, but you've got to read the book! It's well written and will make you want to hop on a bike and not look back!
